The short answer
The Orlando Science Center has its own multi-storey parking garage directly across from the entrance, on the north side of Loch Haven Park. It is the easiest and closest place to park, it is covered (a real bonus in summer), and you pay a flat daily rate per vehicle. For almost every visitor, the garage is the answer — pull in, park, and you are a two-minute walk from the front doors.
The garage: cost and how it works
Parking is a flat per-vehicle fee for the day, paid on entry or exit (card is accepted; keep a little cash as backup). It is modest — a few dollars — and far cheaper than theme-park parking. Members often park free or at a reduced rate, so scan your membership card if you have one. The garage has a standard height clearance that fits cars, SUVs and minivans; tall vans, RVs and vehicles with rooftop carriers should check the posted clearance and use surface parking instead. The covered upper levels keep your car out of the Florida sun, which your steering wheel will thank you for.
Busy days and overflow
On weekends, school holidays, free-museum days and rainy afternoons, the garage can fill by late morning. If it is full, there is additional surface parking within Loch Haven Park shared with the surrounding museums, and street and overflow areas nearby. The simplest fix is to arrive at opening or in the first hour — you get a space, a cooler walk and quieter exhibits before the school groups arrive. If you are visiting on a known-busy day, build in a few extra minutes to find a spot.
Getting there
The Science Center sits in Loch Haven Park, just north of downtown Orlando off Mills Avenue and Princeton Street — well away from the theme-park corridors. From the Disney/Kissimmee or International Drive areas it is roughly a 25–35 minute drive; from downtown it is only a few minutes. Set your sat-nav to the Science Center directly rather than "Loch Haven Park," as the park has several museums and entrances. A car is by far the easiest way to get here — it is not on the main tourist transport routes, so see our car rental guide and the wider getting-around guide if you do not have one. Rideshare drop-off at the entrance is simple if you would rather not drive.
Accessibility and drop-off
The garage has accessible spaces close to the elevators and a short, step-free route to the entrance. If you are dropping off a stroller-laden family or a less-mobile visitor, you can pull up near the front doors first and then park. Strollers and wheelchairs roll easily from the garage into the building. There is no separate charge for a quick drop-off, but you will pay the flat rate if you leave the car in the garage.
Who this is easy for — and who should plan ahead
- Families in a car or minivan: straightforward — use the garage, arrive early on weekends.
- Big vans, RVs or rooftop carriers: check the height clearance and use surface parking instead.
- No car: rideshare to the door is the simplest option, as transit here is limited.
- Members: bring your card for free or reduced parking.
Make a half-day of it
Once you are parked, you are also walking distance from the other Loch Haven Park museums and the surrounding gardens and green space, so it is easy to combine the Science Center with a relaxed stroll. Sort your tickets and prices before you arrive, read the visiting with kids guide if you have little ones, and keep the Science Center on your shortlist of indoor rainy-day activities.
