Overview
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is the flagship Deluxe resort at Walt Disney World — a grand, white-and-red Victorian hotel on the monorail loop, and the most luxurious (and most expensive) place to stay on property. It is the closest thing Disney has to a five-star grand hotel.
Location, transport and dining
The Grand Floridian sits on the monorail to Magic Kingdom and also has a walking path to the park — superb for Magic Kingdom-focused trips. Dining is a highlight, from the acclaimed Victoria & Albert's (one of Florida's finest) to character meals and afternoon tea. As a Deluxe resort it includes Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours on select nights.
Who it suits, pros and cons
Best for couples, honeymoons, special occasions and Magic Kingdom lovers who want the most refined Disney stay.
Pros:
- Most luxurious Disney resort; superb service.
- Monorail and walking path to Magic Kingdom.
- Outstanding dining and a full spa.
Cons:
- The priciest Disney resort by some margin.
- Formal, grand style is less playful for young kids.
Our recommendation
Orlando Compass recommendation: the Grand Floridian is the splurge choice for a special, Magic-Kingdom-focused trip. If you want the same monorail convenience with a more modern or relaxed feel, compare the Contemporary and Polynesian Village. Check live rates below.
