Overview
Disney's Wilderness Lodge is a breathtaking National Park-style Deluxe resort — a soaring timber lobby, roaring fireplaces and a cosy mountain-lodge atmosphere inspired by the great American West. It is frequently rated the best-value Deluxe resort at Walt Disney World.
Location, transport and dining
Tucked in the woods near Magic Kingdom, the Lodge reaches the park by a scenic boat ride (buses serve the other parks). Dining is excellent, from the signature Whispering Canyon Cafe (a fun, rowdy family favourite) to Story Book Dining and the upscale Artist Point area. As a Deluxe it includes Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours.
Who it suits, pros and cons
Best for those who want a Deluxe atmosphere and Magic Kingdom proximity at a (relatively) gentler Deluxe price, and anyone who loves the cosy lodge theme.
Pros:
- Stunning, immersive lodge theming.
- Boat to Magic Kingdom; great pools.
- Often the best-value Deluxe.
Cons:
- Boat/bus transport rather than monorail.
- Tucked away — a little removed from the action.
- Still Deluxe pricing.
Our recommendation
Orlando Compass recommendation: Wilderness Lodge is our value pick among the Deluxe resorts — gorgeous theming and Magic Kingdom by boat, often for less than the monorail resorts. If monorail access matters more, compare the Contemporary and Polynesian. Check live rates below.
