What Aquatica is
Aquatica is SeaWorld's South Seas-themed water park, sitting directly across International Drive from SeaWorld Orlando. It blends a full slide-and-beach water park — big thrill slides, family raft rides, a wave pool and two lazy rivers — with SeaWorld's marine-life twist, most famously slides and lagoons that pass alongside animal habitats. It is an easy, lower-key pairing with a SeaWorld day, and a strong hot-weather option in its own right.
The signature attractions
Aquatica's calling card is its animal-habitat slides — the best known sends you through a clear tube past a habitat of black-and-white Commerson's dolphins. Beyond that you get a mix of high-thrill drop and tube slides, multi-person raft rides, a large wave pool with beaches, and both a relaxed and a faster "adventure" river. There is a dedicated kids' area with gentle slides and shallow water for younger children, so it works across ages. Specific slide line-ups change over time, so check current openings when you visit.
Attractions by type
- Thrill slides: steep drop slides and high-speed tube slides for teens and adults (height minimums apply).
- Family raft rides: multi-person rafts you can ride together, the gentler end of the thrill spectrum.
- Wave pool & beaches: a large wave pool fronted by sandy relaxation areas.
- Lazy and adventure rivers: a calm drift river and a faster current river with effects.
- Kids' area: shallow water, small slides and play structures for young children.
Height requirements: the bigger slides have minimums while the kids' area and rivers suit little ones — check each slide's current height before queuing.
How it pairs with SeaWorld
Because Aquatica is right across from SeaWorld, the two are natural partners — many visitors do a SeaWorld day and an Aquatica day on the same trip, often on combo or multi-park tickets that bring the per-park cost down. If you are buying SeaWorld tickets, check whether adding Aquatica (and the wider park family) is cheaper as a bundle than separately. See the SeaWorld Orlando guide for the park family and ticket options, and our tickets guide for how multi-park pricing works.
Tips for a good day
Standard water-park wisdom applies: arrive early to claim loungers and beat the lines; bring or rent a locker, towels and water shoes for hot pavement; and wear reef-safe sunscreen and reapply. Cabanas are available if you want shade and a base for the day. Florida's afternoon thunderstorms can pause the slides, so front-load the rides and use the rivers and wave pool to fill gaps. As a SeaWorld park, it can be busiest in peak summer — a weekday is calmer.
Food, lockers and cabanas
Aquatica has the usual water-park quick-service counters (burgers, pizza, salads and snacks) and bars dotted around the beaches; an all-day dining option can be worth it if you will eat more than once. Lockers in various sizes are rentable near the entrance — useful, since you will not want valuables by the slides — and reserved cabanas give a shaded home base for a group or family, which is the single biggest comfort upgrade on a hot day. Bring water shoes; the pavement gets hot underfoot in summer.
Aquatica vs the other Orlando water parks
Orlando has three major water parks, and they suit different priorities. Aquatica is the best value-for-money pairing if you are already visiting SeaWorld, with its animal-habitat twist. Universal's Volcano Bay leads on theming and its virtual-queue wristband system. Disney's two water parks (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach) win if you are staying in the Disney bubble. If you only have time for one and you are not committed to a resort, weigh which big park you are already buying tickets for. See the theme parks overview to compare.
Who Aquatica suits
Aquatica is a great fit for families and groups who want a relaxed water day with a mix of thrills and gentle areas, especially as a change of pace between intense theme-park days. If you specifically want the biggest water park near the major parks, also weigh Universal's Volcano Bay; for the SeaWorld-family premium experience, see Discovery Cove.
When to go
As a water park, Aquatica is busiest in peak summer and on weekends, and it lives and dies by the weather — a hot, clear day is ideal, while summer thunderstorms can pause the slides for stretches. The quieter, more comfortable windows mirror the rest of the SeaWorld family: late January–early February and September into early October, though note water parks may run reduced hours or seasonal closures in the coolest months. Check the operating calendar before you plan a visit. The best time to visit guide covers the seasons in detail.
