What the Food & Wine Festival is
The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is Disney's biggest food event — each autumn, EPCOT's World Showcase fills with dozens of global tasting booths serving small plates and drinks from around the world, alongside concerts and special experiences. The best part: it is included with normal park admission. You simply pay per item as you graze your way around the lagoon.
How the booths work
The festival's Global Marketplaces are kiosks set up around World Showcase (and the front of the park), each offering a few tapas-sized dishes and drinks at à la carte prices. The idea is to share and sample widely rather than sit down for one meal — a "food crawl" around the world. Menus and the booth lineup change each year, so grab the current festival guide/map on arrival (or in the app) and plan a route. Pace yourself; it is easy to overspend and overeat.
Beyond the food: concerts and extras
The festival layers on more than booths. The Eat to the Beat concert series brings live music most nights, and there are seminars, tastings, special dining events and a scavenger hunt (often a kids' activity around the park). Some premium experiences cost extra and book up, while the core festival — booths, music, atmosphere — needs only your park ticket. It is the single best reason for food-and-drink-loving adults to time an EPCOT day to autumn.

Is it good for families, or just adults?
Food & Wine has a reputation as an adults' event, and the evenings — busy, drink-heavy, concert-driven — do lean that way. But families can enjoy it too, especially earlier in the day: there is usually a kids' scavenger hunt around World Showcase, plenty of approachable booth dishes, and EPCOT's rides to break up the grazing. The trick is timing — do a relaxed family festival lunch and rides by day, and if you want the livelier "drinking around the world" evening, that is better suited to an adults' night.
Making the most of a Food & Wine day
Treat it as a planned food crawl. Grab the festival passport (or use the app) and mark a route through the booths you most want before you start, so you do not double back hungry. Share every dish so you can hit more marketplaces, and alternate food with water to pace a long afternoon. Aim for weekdays over weekends (local crowds pour in on Friday and Saturday), and arrive earlier in the day before the World Showcase evening surge. Some premium tastings and dining events book up ahead, so reserve those early if they appeal.
