The deciding factor for most people is the Wizarding World: the Hogwarts Express train connects Diagon Alley (Universal Studios Florida) and Hogsmeade (Islands of Adventure), and riding it requires park-to-park. How Epic Universe fits in
With Epic Universe now open as a third gated park, multi-park tickets and day counts have grown. Confirm whether the ticket you are buying includes Epic Universe, since it is a separate gate, and budget a dedicated day for it given the demand. A full Universal visit now commonly runs three to four park days, so — as with Disney — buying your days as one multi-day ticket is cheaper per day than separate tickets.
Express Pass and the free-Express hotel trick
Universal's paid line-skip is Express Pass, bought separately. The key money move is not a ticket at all: guests at Universal's three Premier hotels get free, unlimited Express Pass for their whole stay. For two or more people on busy dates, even a one-night Premier stay can cost less than buying Express and roughly doubles your ride count. Universal's water park, Volcano Bay, is a separate gate from the theme parks. You can buy it on its own or as part of a multi-park ticket that bundles the theme parks and the water park across your days. If a water-park day is in your plan, price the bundled multi-park ticket against buying Volcano Bay separately — for a single visit, standalone admission is often simpler; across several days the bundle usually wins. Kids' tickets and flexible options
